popIn Inc. is a Japanese company started in 2008 as an advertising technology venture by the University of Tokyo. In 2013 they announced the advertising network, popIn Discorvery. In 2015 they became a subsidiary of the Chinese company, Baidu Inc. In 2017 they launched a Kickstarter for the popIn Aladdin, a 3-in-1 projector/ceiling light/speaker that included various entertainment and educational apps for children as part of their own curated apps store for the device. One of the built-in apps added to the Aladdin series of projectors in 2021 got popular enough the the company released the game on the Nintendo Switch, which is the company's first game release separate from their own devices.
